6 Recipes To Compliment Your Soup

You don't realize how happy I am to have my Monday Soups back! With the cold weather and rainy days, it's just a necessity to happiness. But sometimes soup is only as good as it's bread companion. After all, you can't eat chili without cornbread, right? So here are a few recipes for carb rich side dishes that you'll want to add to your soup night.

No-Knead Bread - Let's start things off with the basics. A good homemade bread recipe is a great thing to have in your repertoire for two reasons. One, it makes your house smell marvelous. Two, you can easily make soup and bread seem fancy enough for guests when you pull out this loaf.

Buttermilk Biscuits - It's amazing what a simple warm biscuit with melty butter will do for your soul. It doesn't have to be a complicated recipe. I've even used the recipe on the back of the Bisquick box. But if you keep buttermilk on hand, you can have these babies steaming on the table by the time your soup is done boiling.

Mini Honey Cornbread - Cornbread is a great side option for those tomato based soups. Nod to the classic chili/cornbread combo. Making mini loaves will give you an easy way to watch your carbs and be more compact for lunches of leftovers. Bonus, they're just adorable.

Soft Pretzels - Ready to get creative? For your creamier soups, try making your own soft salty pretzels as a side. They're brilliant for dipping both now and later.

Garlic Cheddar Chive Scones - In my time of blogging, I think I've made it pretty clear how easy scones are to make. Bake up some savory beauties with herbs that will compliment your weekly soup and you can enjoy having them with eggs for breakfast the next day.

Cheddar Beer Bread - My mama instilled in me a love for beer bread. It's so incredibly simple to make and since you usually buy bottles or cans in packs, you'll have all the ingredients you need on hand for weeks. Can we make weekly beer bread a thing too?

If I haven't given you enough reasons to make these carby delights to compliment your soups this cold season, you're probably on a diet and shouldn't be reading this post anyway. But if you are in the business of baking, what delicious breads do you make for your soup night?
