It's Dearest Carl's birthday! And we got a dusting of snow just for him. I have the day bookended with celebrations so I hope I can make it a fabulous day! In the meantime, here's the birthday specs:

Favorite Food: Watkins Homemade Hamburgers
Quirks: Likes rollercoasters, only wants to play boardgames he can win, has read through almost all 13 of A Series of Unfortunate Events, keeps the cookie jar perpetually empty, helps keep the houseplants watered.

I count myself among the luckiest women to have another year with this man and I'm looking forward to all the adventures it will bring!

Birthday

It's that time again. My birthday was yesterday! I feel like I just wrote this post about turning 23, but that was a whole year ago. I guess I blinked... Anyway, here's the annual birthday post!

Currently Obsessed With: Online browsing for living room decor
Looking Forward To: Finishing our living room reno
Favorite Food: Cheese... and coffee
Quirks: Is almost out of space on her bookshelf, plans out the next year's birthday gifts for the entire family the week after Christmas, can make scones in under 45 minutes, writes mostly under an iced coffee induced delirium.

We kicked off the birthday celebrations last night with dinner at The Melting Pot with some friends and I still have celebrations with both sides of the family and my bestie to look forward to this weekend! It's gonna be the best weekend ever, you guys.

Currently Obsessed With: Making our house as efficient as possible
Looking Forward To: The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies DVD release
Favorite Food: Maple Sausage Links
Quirks: Can spackle like a pro, looks adoringly at babies, will eat pretty much anything (even burnt scrambled eggs), has fallen in love with our cat, still tries to explain IT tech-y stuff to me, gets the motivation to work on projects as soon as we don't have time.

My husband has brought us so far this past year. With his know-how and hard work, we've moved into our first house and he's been taking care of house projects ever since. Painting, plumbing, electricity, drywall, lawn care, you name it, he does it. It's such a blessing to me to have an energizer bunny of a man as my husband! I'm looking forward to another year of learning him better and having more adventures!

Yup, it's my birthday. It's really amazing to look at how far I've come from last year! A house, a cat, a life full of friends and blessings. It's pretty great, you guys!

Quirks: Uses Pinterest as a source for everything from cooking to gardening, loves her kitty even when he gets in trouble, actually prefers glasses to contacts, will drink iced coffee even when there's snow outside, can keep plants alive.

While I did post about my resolutions for the year, I have some things I want to see change before I turn 24:
- Really pin down my personal style and encapsulate my wardrobe
- Take time to do more things that make Dearest Carl happy like biking, camping, project-ing, etc.
- Make our house into a comfortable safe place for us and our family and friends
- Become a mom, Lord willing

Time for a birthday post! Yes, it was Monday but it is harder to write about myself than I thought!

Age: 22 years old
Current Occupation: Nanny to two sweet little birds
Favorite Movie: Marie Antoinette
Currently Obsessed With: Finding a house to move into
Looking Forward To: Summer and all that comes with it (Farmers Market, Bike Rides, Grilling, Evening Walks, Iced Coffee, etc.)
Favorite Food: Seafood (crab especially!)
Quirks: Loves pink, constantly redecorates the apartment in her head, has six ever growing food boards on Pinterest, can read a book in a week when she really gets into it, is actually very competitive, always "needs" new shoes, still hasn't come to terms with her naturally curly hair, secretly wishes she was a ballerina, never thinks it's too cold for ice cream.

I have to say that there is so much I want to change about myself in the next year. I want to be more hospitable, a better listener and more forgiving but most of all, I yearn to know my Lord more than ever! I've got some big wishes this year and I'm going to need His help being patient. Thankfully, I have a patient husband so maybe he'll rub off on me some too. :)

Today is my wonderful husband's birthday!!! Dearest Carl is 22 today. :) And the other day, I had a great idea! I'd like to begin birthday blog posts for our family which we can later read and see how we've grown and changed. Good idea yes? :) So, here goes!
